Bill Elliott's career in racing began at young age do to the racing tradition of his family in Dawsonville Georgia. George Elliott, Bill's father sold parts for racing cars and was also a very avid race fan. Ernie and Dan Elliott, Bill's brothers were always working and fixing up cars and did a little racing also. Bill was not at first heavily involved in driving until he started modifying a standard car into a racing machine. After that, his father decided it was time to take Bill more seriously. Bill began racing on a regular basis in 1974 at the Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. After Bill started winning a few races his father started pushing Bill further. Bill believes his father must have seen more in him than even Bill thought he had.
